Free, hands-on children's gardening workshop at Dobbies Brighton to explore the science of leaves and make a paper plate wreath.
Dobbies Brighton is hosting another session of its Little Seedlings Club on Sunday 1 November, the children's gardening club that returns every November to look at the world of leaves. It's a free, hands-on, nature-themed workshop, and this time the whole thing is built around the science of leaves.
The session walks children through what's actually happening when the seasons shift: why leaves change colour and how they support the environment. There's a creative side to it too, with everyone making their own paper plate wreath to take home. They'll also get to examine leaves from around the world and find out how fallen leaves enrich the soil and create habitats for wildlife.
It's a good way to get kids thinking about the natural world around them, and since it's hands-on, they're doing rather than just listening. The wreath is a nice touch, too — something they can actually keep and show off after the session is over.
