Dr. Xand van Tulleken in conversation with Katie Popperwell, presented by Waterstones Brighton.
Dr Xand van Tulleken is coming to the Brighton Dome Studio Theatre on Friday 9 October, for a conversation with Katie Popperwell presented by Waterstones Brighton. The night centres on his book Make Me Well, in which he takes a look at the 'Wild West' of the wellness industry and tries to make sense of a landscape that's become dominated by supplements, blood testing and wearable technology.
Van Tulleken is a doctor, broadcaster and presenter who spent a decade practising acute medicine in the NHS. He trained at Oxford, Harvard and the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, and is now an Honorary Associate Professor at University College London. Much of his academic work has focused on humanitarian assistance and global health, which has taken him into crises in Myanmar, Uganda and Sudan. He's also one of the BBC's leading broadcasters for children and adults, and his work there has won two BAFTAs. He lives in East Sussex with his wife and two (occasionally three) children.
The evening is a conversation rather than a lecture, so it's more of a discussion than a presentation. It's presented by Waterstones Brighton, and you can get a ticket on its own or as part of a bundle that includes the book. Tickets are £18, or £37.50 for the ticket and the book together. If you're a Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival member, you save £2 on full-price tickets.
