A three-hour workshop to create floral silhouettes using dried herbs and flowers with cyanotype and turmeric.
Alchymis is hosting a cyanotype workshop on Thursday 15 October, with a second date on Wednesday 28 October, both running for three hours. It's a session that brings together plants, sunlight and art, and you'll be working with dried flowers, herbs and leaves to create floral silhouettes.
The process uses two different pigments. There's the traditional cyanotype, which gives you that deep, characteristic blue, and a natural, eco-friendly turmeric that works alongside it. You arrange your botanicals on the paper and let the sunlight and UV light do the heavy lifting, developing the images right there. It's a slow, tactile way of working—arranging the leaves and flowers, letting the light set them, and seeing the silhouettes emerge.
Guest host Leyla leads the session, and refreshments are included, so you can settle in for the full three hours. If you've never tried cyanotype before, this is a good place to start; you don't need any prior experience to get something finished by the end.
