A ticketed, intimate celebration of Samhain, the New Year, held at Alchymis in Brighton with fancy dress encouraged.
Alchymis is hosting an All Hallow's Eve Party on Saturday 31 October, a celebration of Samhain as the New Year. It's a ticketed night, and fancy dress is highly encouraged, so it's one of those where you'll want to put some effort into your outfit.
Samhain is the Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest and the beginning of the new year, traditionally falling around the turn of October and November. It's the root of what we now call Halloween, and that's the focus here: a party built around the old New Year rather than just the modern holiday. The night runs from 9pm until midnight, so it's a late one that takes you right through to the morning of the new year.
It's an intimate affair, with tickets limited to 20 people, which keeps it on the smaller side. That's a good thing if you're looking for something a bit more low-key than the bigger Halloween bashes that pop up across the city this time of year. Fancy dress is highly encouraged, so the smaller the crowd, the more it pays to lean into it.
