Crafty Kids: Strange Creatures and Aliens

Crafty Kids: Strange Creatures and Aliens runs at the Brighton Dome on Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 February 2027, with sessions at 11.45am and 2pm on both days. Doors open half an hour before each one, and the workshops last 50 minutes. It's for children aged 3 to 10, who work alongside a parent or carer to make their own alien creature using outer-space themed arts and crafts. All the materials are provided, so you just need to turn up.

The whole thing is led by artist and workshop leader Laura Halliwell, who guides the children through the making. It's a collaborative session, and the age range starts at three, so it works for the younger end of the scale as well as the older ones. The focus is on creating something from scratch, and because it's a workshop, the process is as much the point as the finished creature.

There's a bit of context to it, too: the workshops are inspired by Strange Creatures: A Beegu Story, a performance by Mish Mash Productions showing in the Dome Studio Theatre on the same day. If you're planning to see the show, the workshop sits right alongside it, and the alien theme carries across both. Each child is limited to one adult, with a maximum of two children per adult, so it's a small group rather than a big class.

Tickets are £10 for one adult and one child, with an extra £8 for each additional child. Everyone needs a ticket, and Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival members save £2 on full price. With the 11.45am and 2pm slots on both Tuesday and Wednesday, you can pick the time that fits your day best.
