Craft workshops for children and parents to make flapping bat and creepy spider puppets, guided by artist Laura Halliwell.
Brighton Dome is hosting Crafty Kids: Halloween Spooky Spiders and Chatty Bats on Thursday 29 October, with two separate workshops running that day: one at 11:15am and another at 2:15pm. Doors open at 11am and 2pm respectively, and each session lasts about 50 minutes, so you've got a choice of morning or afternoon depending on when your day works best.
The whole thing is led by artist Laura Halliwell, who'll be guiding the group through making two different puppets: a flapping bat and a creepy spider. Everything you need is provided on the day, so you don't have to worry about bringing your own supplies. The sessions are aimed at children aged 3 to 10, and the format is designed for them to work alongside a parent or carer rather than being left to their own devices — the grown-ups do as much making as the little ones, which is a nice way to spend an hour together.
It's part of the Dome's Crafty Kids series, a run of family workshops that keep the focus on doing things together. If you've got a little one who's into making things, this is a straightforward way to get them stuck in with some Halloween-themed crafts before the actual day arrives.

Tickets are £10 for one adult and one child, with an extra £8 for each additional child, up to a maximum of two children per adult. Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival members save £2 on full-price tickets. The workshops are at Brighton Dome, Church Street, Brighton, BN1 1UE, on Thursday 29 October, at 11:15am and 2:15pm.
