Improvisation workshop led by Diana Brown, open to all levels, as part of the Birmingham Improv Festival 2026.
Diana Brown is running a comedy workshop called Where We Are Changes Who We Are at MAC Birmingham on Saturday 7 November, as part of the Birmingham Improv Festival 2026. It's a three-hour session that starts at 2:00pm, and it's open to all comers — you don't need any prior improv experience to join in, though some helps. The whole thing is built around how location shapes behaviour, status, emotion and story in improvisation, with the aim of training players to make environments immediate, legible and theatrically alive.
Brown comes to the session with a background that spans both the stage and the boardroom. She's an improv artist, actor, director, speaker and communication coach whose work bridges theatrical performance and real-world leadership. In 2025, she was named one of The Improv Boost's Sudden Impact Teachers, and she was voted Most Valuable Mentor and Teacher at the San Francisco Improv Festival. She performs, teaches and directs internationally, and leads the Advanced Improv Performance Lab at Berkeley Repertory Theatre's School of Theatre. She also teaches at BATS Improv, All Out Comedy Theatre and Leela Improv in San Francisco, and coaches leaders and artists in high-impact communication.

Her recent work has taken her across Europe. She co-directed and appeared in Mark Smith's ensemble Taxi Tales at Impro Amsterdam 2026, and directed the international ensemble at Improv Fest Ireland 2026. The workshop at the MAC is one of the many sessions that make up the Birmingham Improv Festival, so if you're interested in the scene, there's plenty more to look at around it. Tickets are £51.95 for the three hours, and it runs from 2:00pm on Saturday 7 November at MAC Birmingham.
