Live show by singer and bassist Tom Robinson, with his acoustic duo of guitar, keyboard and vocals alongside Adam Phillips on lead guitar and vocals.
Tom Robinson plays the Midlands Arts Centre on Saturday 24 October. It's a stripped-back night: he's performing as an acoustic duo with Adam Phillips, who takes lead guitar and vocals alongside Robinson's guitar, keyboard and vocals.
If you're coming from the early records, the name is familiar. Robinson is an English singer, bassist and radio presenter, and a long-time LGBT rights activist. He's best known for hits like 'Glad to Be Gay' and '2-4-6-8 Motorway', both from his time with the Tom Robinson Band. Those were full-band songs, and that's how he still plays them when he's not in this duo format.
He works in two distinct setups. The acoustic duo is just him and Adam Phillips on lead guitar and vocals. When he goes full-band, the line-up expands to Andy Treacey on drums, Jim Simmons on organ and piano, and Lee Forsyth Griffiths on acoustic guitar. This is the smaller of the two, so you'll be hearing the songs handled by two people rather than five.
