Acoustic Americana, folk and bluegrass trio The Jaywalkers play the Kitchen Garden Cafe on York Road.
The Jaywalkers play Kitchen Garden Cafe on Sunday 29 November, with the music starting at 8:00 PM. They're a UK-based acoustic trio whose sound pulls from country, folk, Americana and bluegrass, and they'll be bringing that mix to the cafe on York Road.
Mike Giverin is the chief songwriter on mandolin, and his originals cover a fair bit of ground: the travails of the travelling musician, saving the planet, and tales of being stranded halfway up a mountain. Those sit alongside foot-stomping bluegrass tunes and interpretations of old country classics, so the set should touch on a few different moods across the night. Jay Bradberry takes the lead vocals and plays fiddle, and Lucille Williams is on double bass, playing slap bass.
Critics have described their sound as a beautifully performed take on Americana, a multi-layered sound that belies their trio status, built on powerhouse bass, flame-fingered mandolin, blistering fiddle and three-part harmony. The band hails from Chester, and they'll be playing as a trio: mandolin, fiddle and double bass, with the three of them singing together on the harmonies.
