Manic Street Preachers and Suede headline a special co-tour celebrating decades of influential music with era-defining anthems and powerful live performances.
Manic Street Preachers and Suede are sharing a bill at Utilita Arena Birmingham on Saturday 7 November, part of a co-headline tour that puts two of the UK's biggest guitar bands on the same stage. It's a double bill rather than a support slot, so you'll get a full set from each across the night. Both bands have been around for decades, and the whole thing is billed as a celebration of that: they're drawing from their respective catalogues, so you can expect the era-defining anthems that made them household names in the first place.
It's a big night for anyone who grew up with Britpop and the guitar-led sound of the nineties. The Manics bring their particular blend of anthemic rock and political lyrics, while Suede bring the glam, theatrical side of things. Hearing them back-to-back in one evening is something that doesn't happen often, and the tour is built around that pairing. The night leans on their most well-known songs, so it's a good one if you're after the big, singalong moments rather than a deep dive into the B-sides.
SJM Concerts is presenting the tour, and Birmingham is one of several arena dates. The other stops include Glasgow's OVO Hydro, Manchester's Co-op Live, Cardiff's Utilita Arena, London's The O2 and Nottingham's Motorpoint Arena, so it's a proper run of UK cities. If you're not based in the Midlands, there are plenty of other chances to catch them, but for us, the Utilita is the one.
