The Deadlians

The Deadlians play The Kitchen Garden in Kings Heath on Sunday 20 December, with doors opening at 7:30 pm and the music starting at 8:00 pm. They're a Dublin-based band with a cult following, fronted by singer and songwriter Sean Fitzgerald.

They started in 2019 as a four-piece and have since grown into an Irish trad psyche punk rock five-piece. Their sets weave together folk songs, punk rock and psychedelic segues, so it's not the kind of folk gig that stays in one gear. The trad side of things comes through in the songs, but the punk and psychedelic elements pull it in a different direction.

Reviewer John Kennedy called them 'one of Ireland's best kept secrets', and he noted a faintly darker edge to them compared to a new generation of Irish alternative trad/folk groups. That description fits the way they describe themselves — Irish trad psyche punk rock — and the mix of folk, punk and psychedelia they build their sets around. It's a long way from a standard folk club night.

Tickets start from £19.91, and the gig is at The Kitchen Garden, 106 High Street, Kings Heath, B14 7JZ. Doors open at 7:30 pm, music starts at 8:00 pm.
