Free Sunday afternoon session at The Sunflower Lounge with Bennie Hayfield and Shelle playing from the mezzanine.
Bennie Hayfield and Shelle are playing The Sunflower Lounge on Sunday 1 November, as part of Sunday On The Mezz, a new fixture at the venue. It's a double bill that runs across the afternoon: Hayfield takes the first slot at 2pm, and Shelle follows at 3pm.
If you haven't come across it yet, Sunday On The Mezz has a specific way of working. The Sunflower Lounge books a gig in the basement for the night, and while that's getting set up, they put one or two performers upstairs in the bar, playing from the mezzanine while the room settles in below. It's a separate thing from whatever's happening downstairs, so you can drop in for one or both of the sets without needing to stay for the evening.
That makes it an easy one to work around your day. Doors open at 1pm, so there's plenty of time to get a drink and find a spot before the music starts. With Hayfield at 2pm and Shelle at 3pm, you can catch the first set and head off, stay for the second, or hang around for both. Entry is free, and the sessions are open to over-14s when accompanied by an adult, so it's as much a daytime thing as it is a gig.
