Weekly weekly meeting of the School of Sufi Teaching in Birmingham, a Naqshbandi/Mujaddidi tariqat, with silent meditation practice (Muraqabah).
Silent Sufi Meditation is back at Friends Meeting House on Tuesday 27 October, starting at 19:30. It's a session in the Naqshbandi/Mujaddidi tradition, part of the weekly meetings run by the School of Sufi Teaching in Birmingham. The school is a registered charity, and no one is paid for the teaching.
The session centres on Muraqabah, the silent meditation practice of the tradition, which you explore alongside the guidance of a Sheikh. It's open to men and women of all backgrounds, so you don't need any particular religious or spiritual background to take part. The focus is on the practice itself rather than a lecture or a talk.
One thing to keep in mind is that this isn't a drop-in class. If you're interested in joining, you'll need to email a brief introduction about yourself, your spiritual experience, and what you're hoping to get out of it. There's also a commitment involved: you'll be asked to do about 35 minutes of sitting meditation at home each day, in addition to the weekly meeting. It's a regular practice rather than a one-off, so it's worth thinking about whether that fits your routine before you sign up.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Birmingham and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.
