Tony Willé performs his folk-pop songs live, joined by Richard Sames, Hank Hastings, Paul Carroll and special guest Fiona Lenton on violin.
Shy Face Troubadour plays The Kitchen Garden Cafe in Kings Heath on Wednesday 28 October, starting at 7:30pm. It's the ongoing project of songwriter Tony Willé, and he's playing his songs live with Richard Sames, Hank Hastings, and Paul Carroll. The night is split into two halves: the first set is a duo, and the second brings in the full band with Fiona Lenton joining on violin.
Willé's writing draws on Brian Wilson, Jimmy Webb, Nick Drake and Elvis Costello, and Tom Robinson of the BBC called it 'a beautifully crafted piece of topical songwriting', noting that he's been honing his craft for 30 years. The set includes 'DIY for Butterfly' and 'The Train', a tribute to his brother. He plays best in intimate venues, and The Kitchen Garden Cafe is his favourite.

Before this, Willé was in The Day, Parma Violets and the indie outfit Felt. The music sits in the folk-pop tradition, and the two-set format lets you hear the songs in two different ways — stripped back as a duo first, then built out with the full band and Lenton's violin. Tickets are £13 plus booking fee, with the show starting at 7:30pm at The Kitchen Garden Cafe, Kings Heath, Birmingham B14 7SA.
