Gypsy jazz concert by the Remi Harris Hot Club Trio, mixing original compositions, jazz standards and classic tunes in the Lickey Hills.
Remi Harris Hot Club Trio play Joe Joe Jims on Saturday 28 November, bringing their take on gypsy jazz to the Lickey Hills. The trio is led by guitarist Remi Harris, with Tom Moore on double bass and Chris Nesbitt on rhythm guitar. The set mixes original compositions, jazz standards and new arrangements of classic tunes, and they describe it as combining technical brilliance with heartfelt expression.
Harris has been playing since he was seven, working his way from busking on the streets of his local towns to stages around the world. He's played Buckingham Palace, the Montreal Jazz Festival and the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall alongside Jamie Cullum, and has appeared on national radio and television. His playing draws on a broad range of influences: Django Reinhardt, Peter Green, Wes Montgomery, Led Zeppelin, Gerry Mulligan and Jimi Hendrix. He's been praised by Jamie Cullum, Cerys Matthews, Peter Frampton, Martin Taylor MBE, John Etheridge and Clive Carroll.
