Live R&B show by award-winning singer-songwriter Alice Armstrong with her band at Joe Joe Jims in Cofton Hackett.
Alice Armstrong plays Joe Joe Jims on Saturday 5 December, with doors opening at 7:00pm and the music starting at 8:00pm. She'll be backed by her band, with Greg Coulson on keys.
Armstrong is a multi-award-winning R&B singer-songwriter who plays sold-out shows across the UK, Europe and the USA. Her live sets are described as a 'party' by fans and press, and they blend modern sounds with traditional roots genres. She cites Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Donnie Hathaway, Amy Winehouse, Peggy Lee and Dinah Washington as influences, and she peppers her shows with a trademark sense of humour drawn from the Goon Show, French & Saunders and Monty Python. Critics have likened her to Amy Winehouse and Janis Joplin.
2026 has been a banner year for her. She was a top three nominee at the Jazz FM Awards and won Vocalist of the Year and Contemporary Artist of the Year for the third consecutive year at the UK Blues Awards, an honour that entered her into the UK Blues Hall of Fame. Her songs get regular airplay on BBC Radio 2, and she previously recorded a co-written album with the Stevie Watts Organ Trio that reached the top 20 IBBA albums of 2020.
