Manchester post-punk band Pyncher play The Sunflower Lounge in Birmingham, presented by Yampy Promotions as part of Independent Venue Week.
Pyncher play The Sunflower Lounge on Friday 29 January, starting at 19:30. They're a Manchester band known for a post-punk sound, and they've been building a name for themselves in both Manchester and London. This is a Birmingham date, and it's being put on by Yampy Promotions as part of Independent Venue Week.
The set will draw from a new EP they've put out, which has been getting attention for bringing in some unusual musical elements. If you're familiar with post-punk, you'll know the territory — angular guitars and a driving rhythm section — but the new material pushes that into slightly different ground. It's the kind of thing that's easier to hear in a room than to describe on a page, and the EP is where they're focusing their energy right now.
They're coming from Manchester, so this is one of their trips south. They've spent most of their time playing in the North and in London, and this is a chance to catch them in the Midlands. The Sunflower Lounge is one of Birmingham's busiest grassroots rooms, so it's a proper small-venue gig rather than a big hall. It's the kind of night where you're close to the stage and can actually see what's happening.
