Screening of the animated film 'Persepolis' by the 90 Minute Movie Club at the Hare And Hounds in Kings Heath.
Persepolis is screening at the Hare And Hounds in Kings Heath on Wednesday 11 November, as part of the H&H x WPTR 90 Minute Movie Club. It's the 2007 autobiographical animated film based on the graphic novel of the same name by the late Marjane Satrapi, and it's one of those rare ones that works as both a personal story and a piece of history.
If you haven't seen it, it follows the life of a young, outspoken girl named Marjane growing up amidst the Iranian Revolution. It's a coming-of-age tale told in stark, striking animation, and it manages to be insightful, witty and highly imaginative all at once. It won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival and picked up an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature, so it's got the critical pedigree to back up the hype.
The screening is part of the 90 Minute Movie Club programme at the Hare And Hounds, which brings cinema into the pub setting. It's a good spot for a mid-week night out if you're in the Kings Heath area, and since it's a club night, it's as much about the room as the screen.
