Night Swimming, the Bath dream-pop and indie rock five-piece, play The Sunflower Lounge in Birmingham.
Night Swimming play The Sunflower Lounge on Wednesday 4 November, from 7:30pm to 10:30pm. They're a Bath-based five-piece, and the night is presented by Uncover Music. It's for ages 16 and over.
On stage, the band is Meg Jones on vocals, Sam Allen and Jesse Roache on guitars, Josh Nottle on bass and Torin Moore on drums. They describe their sound as a blend of dream-pop and indie rock, driven by a love of film and a focus on atmosphere, texture and intimate emotional honesty. That cinematic lean comes through in the influences they cite: the ethereal wash of Cocteau Twins, the moody lines of The Cure, the art-rock of Radiohead and the wall-of-sound of Slowdive, alongside more recent names like Wolf Alice, Daughter, Just Mustard and Warpaint. It's a wide enough spread to suggest a set that moves between the melodic and the atmospheric, with the dream-pop side leaning into the reverb and the indie rock side holding it together.
They're signed to Venn Records and have spent a good deal of time on the road. They opened the SWX stage at Dot To Dot Festival alongside Mary in the Junkyard and Wunderhorse, and have toured nationwide with Miki Berenyi, Pale Blue Eyes, Heartworms, bdrmm, Coach Party and The Orielles. If you've caught them on one of those tours, this is a chance to see them in a proper club setting rather than as a festival opener or a support act. It's a mid-week one, so it'll be a bit different from the usual weekend run.
