Drawing workshop led by Birmingham artist Molly Cleaver, inspired by Joe Lycett's exhibition 'EVERY THING MUST GO', with drawing materials and a drink included.
Molly Cleaver is running a drawing workshop at Craft & Culture, the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter, on Friday 27 November. It's a two-hour session from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and it's led by Cleaver herself, a Birmingham artist whose work is currently showing in Joe Lycett's exhibition EVERY THING MUST GO.
The session takes its lead from the playful approach of that show. You'll be working from still-life arrangements, focusing on colour, shape and composition, with a range of drawing materials on hand to experiment with. It's set up so you can try different things as you go, rather than sticking to one way of working. If you're more of a doodler than a proper drawer, that's fine too — the focus is on playing around with the basics rather than turning out a finished masterpiece.
Cleaver is well within her element here. Aside from her work in EVERY THING MUST GO, she also leads 'Whimsical Still Life' workshops held inside that same exhibition at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, so this is right in her wheelhouse. If you've seen the exhibition, you'll recognise the kind of thing she's talking about when she mentions that playful approach.

Tickets are £20, and each one includes a drink — a can of local beer, a glass of house wine or a soft drink. It's a Friday night, so it works as a standalone thing or as a way to kick off the weekend. The workshop runs from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Craft & Culture in the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham.
