Bedtime-inspired spa experience for two with a raw-cacao hot chocolate body scrub and a rose body serum massage at LUSH Spa Birmingham.
LUSH Spa Birmingham is running The Comforter on Saturday 24 October, a bedtime-inspired full-body scrub and massage for two. It's a 60-minute treatment, and the whole thing is set in a warm pink room with floating bubbles and a starlit ceiling. The session starts with a raw-cacao hot chocolate scrub, followed by a rich rose body serum massaged in, and it finishes with a vegan mocktail in the spa kitchen.
There's a bit of a story to the way they do things here. The spa works LUSH's own line of handmade, vegetarian, and plastic-free cosmetics into its rituals, and they pitch the treatments as multi-sensory theatre combining music, movement, massage, and scent. Every treatment has its own bespoke soundtrack, drawing on orchestral scores, bird song, and natural soundscapes. For The Comforter, the music was recorded by the house band, The Fresh Handmade Sound.
The therapists are trained through a six-week immersion at the Poole academy, and the spa itself opened in Birmingham in 2009. It's owned by LUSH Cosmetics, which is privately held by its co-founders, including Mark and Mo Constantine.

Practical side: the spa is at 143-144 New Street, B2 4NY, on the first floor at the back of the store, with lift and stair access. It's fully wheelchair accessible and welcomes assistance and support dogs, though there's no on-site restaurant or parking. The treatment is £120.00 for two, and if you're buying it as a gift, the voucher is valid for 12 months from purchase.
