Solo acoustic folk and Americana set by singer-songwriter Luke Jackson at the Kitchen Garden Cafe.
Luke Jackson plays Kitchen Garden Cafe on Sunday 1 November, a solo night with just him and his guitar. He's a singer-songwriter from Canterbury, Kent, who's spent years working the folk, roots, Americana and acoustic circuits. Critics have called him one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary folk, and Frank Turner described him as 'a striking new voice'.
He's been around the folk scene for a while. In 2013 he was nominated at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards for the Horizon Award for Best Emerging Talent and for the Young Folk category, and he picked up Fatea's Male Artist of the Year twice, in 2014 and 2016. His live album Solo:Duo:Trio was voted 2018 Album of the Year by Laurel Canyon, and his 2020 studio release Journals was named 2019 Album of the Year by Fatea Magazine.
He's also spent plenty of time on the support slot, opening for Fairport Convention, Show of Hands, Steve Knightley, Seth Lakeman, Karine Polwart, Oysterband, Paul Brady, Glen Tilbrook, Sarah Jarosz and John Paul White, and has toured across Europe and the USA. On the night, it's just him and the guitar, so you'll hear the voice and the songwriting without anything else getting in the way.
