Free printmaking demonstrations with Stirchley Printworks inspired by Joe Lycett's exhibition 'EVERY THING MUST GO' at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery.
Stirchley Printworks are running live printing demonstrations at the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery on Sunday 29 November and Saturday 30 January, both starting at 11:00am. It's a hands-on one: you work alongside the printers, who guide you through making your own print using traditional techniques, so you'll leave with something you actually made rather than just watching from the side.
The sessions are inspired by EVERY THING MUST GO, the first major solo exhibition of art by comedian Joe Lycett, which runs at the gallery from 29 July 2026 to 21 February 2027. The exhibition is built around the theme of 'things that are no longer with us', and Lycett describes it as a 'neon graveyard' — a bold, salon-style display of deceased celebrities, discontinued chocolate bars, extinct animals and destroyed buildings. The printing demonstrations take their cue from that, so they're tied into the same conversation about things that have vanished.

If you've seen the exhibition, the demonstrations give you a way to engage with it beyond just walking through the rooms. And if you haven't, they're a good excuse to check it out while you're there. The two dates are Sunday 29 November and Saturday 30 January, both at 11:00am at the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, and they're free to take part in.
