The CBSO performs John Williams' score from the Christmas classic 'Home Alone' live to picture at Symphony Hall.
The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra are bringing Home Alone to Symphony Hall on Wednesday 23 December, with the full orchestra performing John Williams' score live to picture. It's a matinee, starting at 3:00pm, so it's one of those that works as a family outing rather than a late night.
If you've seen the film, you know the story: Kevin McCallister, an eight-year-old boy accidentally left behind when his family flies to New York for Christmas, has to defend his home from two bungling thieves. The movie is a Christmas classic, and the score that runs through it was written by John Williams, one of the most famous film composers working. For this performance, the CBSO plays that score live in the hall, timed to the film on screen, so the music you hear is coming from the stage in front of you rather than from a recording.

The concert is promoted by esk live in association with B:Music, and they've billed it as a holiday favourite for the whole family. Because it's a matinee on the 23rd, it sits right in the middle of the Christmas run-up, and the 3:00pm start means it's an afternoon thing rather than an evening one. Tickets go from £37.50 to £77.50, and the performance is at Symphony Hall in Birmingham.
