Open-level session led by Lucy Huzzard to learn Swedish dances through embodiment, from beginners to experienced dancers.
Lucy Huzzard is leading a Swedish dance workshop at Kings Heath Community Centre on Sunday 15 November, from 2:30pm. It's presented by the Traditional Arts Team, and the whole session is open to all levels, from absolute beginners who've never stepped foot on a dance floor to more experienced dancers looking to pick up something new.
Huzzard brings more than a decade of Scandinavian dance teaching experience to the table, and her approach is less about following a set of steps and more about learning through embodiment — getting the movement into your body rather than just thinking about it. She pairs that with a deep technical understanding of how Swedish dances actually work, and plenty of top tips along the way to help you find your feet. It's the kind of class where you can just turn up and start moving, regardless of where you're coming from.
Because it's open to all levels, it's as much for the complete novice as it is for someone who already dances. The session is recommended for ages 14 and over, so it's a good one to bring a teenager along to if you're looking for something to do together on a Sunday afternoon.
