Folk/blues/world music gig with Jez Lowe and his band The Bad Pennies at Red Lion Folk Club.
Jez Lowe is playing the Red Lion Folk Club on Wednesday 28 October, as part of The Bad Pennies DEFROSTED! Annual Winter Tour 2026. He'll be backed by his band, The Bad Pennies, who've been playing together for twenty years: Kate Bramley on fiddle, mandolin and vocals; Andy May on Northumbrian pipes and keyboards; and David De La Haye on bass-guitar. The night is presented by the Red Lion Folk Club, and it's one of the dates on this winter tour.
Lowe is an award-winning songwriter and novelist, and he's been touring as a singer, songwriter and musician for forty-five years. He's one of the busiest names on the UK folk scene, and his songs have been recorded by Fairport Convention, The Dubliners, The Unthanks, The Tannahill Weavers, Megson, Bob Fox, The McCalmans and Liam Clancy. He also wrote fifty or more songs for the award-winning BBC Radio Two series The Radio Ballads. He's released many albums, some solo and others with The Bad Pennies, and has toured across the UK and internationally. The band first joined him in 1990, and the current line-up has been together for two decades.
