Monthly free drop-in jazz recitals by students of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in the Craft & Culture café bar.
Jazz Recitals run on the last Thursday of every month at Craft & Culture, the new café bar and community space inside the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter on Vyse Street in Hockley. The recitals are given by students from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, which has been training performers in the city since 1886 and describes its education as internationally recognised. The sessions run from 14:00 to 16:00, so you can drop in for a bit of the afternoon rather than committing to the full two hours.
Craft & Culture is a versatile spot. By day it's a relaxed, work-friendly setting serving speciality coffee, and by evening it turns into an intimate bar with a curated wine list and craft beers. It's not just for music, either: the venue runs drawing workshops with local artist Molly Cleaver and is available for private hire. The space is open Thursday to Sunday, 10am to 10pm, and it's cashless, taking all cards. There are two entrance steps, and a ramp is available on request.
