An improvised musical in which the audience suggests the title and the performers create songs, scenes and choreography on the spot.
Impromptunes bring their completely improvised musical to MAC Birmingham on Thursday 5 November, as part of the Birmingham Improv Festival. The premise is as simple as it sounds: the audience suggests a title, and seconds later the curtain rises on a brand-new show performed for the first, last and only time. Everything is made up on the spot — the songs, the scenes and the choreography all unfold as Australia's finest improvisers build a full musical from scratch, unrehearsed and unpredictable.
Because it's improvised, the night depends on what the room throws at them. The cast takes a suggestion from the crowd and works it into a complete show with a plot, characters and music, all coming together in real time. It's a one-off performance in every sense: once the curtain falls, that particular show is gone, and you'll never see it again.
