Irish singer-songwriter Harry Hudson Taylor, former half of the folk duo Hudson Taylor, brings folk, roots, soul and indie pop to Kitchen Garden.
Harry Hudson Taylor plays Kitchen Garden on Thursday 19 November, a solo show from the Irish singer-songwriter. It's presented by Kitchen Garden, and the night is built around Taylor himself.
If the name sounds familiar, it's because he spent years as one half of the folk duo Hudson Taylor. That partnership built a following across Ireland, the UK, Europe and North America, with over 30 million Spotify streams and a number one album in Ireland. Signed to Polydor in the UK and Rubyworks in Ireland, and published by Sony/ATV, the brothers released three albums and toured with some of the biggest names in the business: The Rolling Stones, Kodaline, Bastille, The Script, Passenger, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Hozier, George Ezra and Jake Bugg. It's a long list of stages to have shared, and it covers a fair bit of ground, from the stadium-filling pop of Bastille and The Script to the more stripped-back folk of Passenger and Hozier.
Now based between Ireland, the UK and Germany, Harry is stepping into his own creative space. He describes his solo work as blending folk, roots, soul and indie pop with a modern edge, and the set will lean into that mix. It's a shift from the duo years, taking the songwriting he's known for and pulling it in a few different directions at once. He's played a good range of festivals too — Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds, Electric Picnic, Benicàssim, Latitude, Isle of Wight, Kendal Calling, Wilderness, Cambridge Folk Festival and TRNSMT — so he's well-used to playing for different crowds.
