Folk singer-songwriter Gerry Colvin plays his new album 'Past Present And Crescent' and favourites from his back catalogue with his band.
Gerry Colvin plays the Kitchen Garden Cafe on Sunday 6 December, with doors at 7:30pm and the music starting at 8:00pm. He'll be performing with a full band: Jerome Davies on double bass, Trish Power on accordion, Lyndon Webb on guitar and Marion Fleetwood on violin. The set draws from his tenth album, Past Present And Crescent, alongside favourites from his back catalogue.
Colvin is a folk-pop singer-songwriter who writes and performs all his own material, combining catchy melodies with lyrics about love, society, angst and Johnny Cash. He's as comfortable in small clubs as he was supporting Status Quo on their Aquostic Live Tour, and he dresses for the stage in a style he describes as a mix of Frank Sinatra, Lee Evans and the Man in Black.
His career has taken him across a fair few different scenes. He co-wrote with Alison Moyet and was a John Peel favourite in the eighties with his band Terry & Gerry, which has recently reformed. With Colvinquarmby, he won best band at Fairport's Cropredy Festival and picked up the Hancock Award for best live folk act. He's also a Glastonbury stalwart who has worked as a compere. In the nineties he spent time in Nashville as a professional songwriter, and since 1995 he's worked with Nick Quarmby in the five-piece folk band Colvin Quarmby, which released six critically acclaimed albums.
