Workshop to make your own Nordic-inspired Hygge eco Christmas wreath at the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter.
Museum of the Jewellery Quarter is hosting a Christmas wreath workshop on Saturday 28 November, where you'll make your own Nordic-inspired Hygge Eco Christmas wreath. It's a hands-on session, so you'll be building the thing yourself rather than just watching someone else do it.
The Nordic influence comes through in the hygge theme — that Danish concept of cosy, contented living that's become a bit of a shorthand for winter comfort. The 'eco' part of the title points to a more sustainable approach to the materials, so you're making something that fits the season without leaning on the usual plastic trimmings. You'll walk away with a finished wreath to hang up at home.
The workshop is part of a much larger festive programme from Birmingham Museums Trust, which runs across several of their sites. If you're in the mood for more, there's Breakfast with Santa and Santa's Workshop at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery and Thinktank, Tudor Christmas tours at Blakesley Hall, and candlelight tours at Aston Hall. The whole seasonal offering runs from Halloween right through to Christmas, and it's not all workshops — they've got comedy, spoken word and family activities mixed in alongside the festive sessions.
