Cinema-style screening of 'The Muppet Christmas Carol' in the Thinktank Planetarium dome as part of the museum's Christmas Cinema series.
The Muppet Christmas Carol is coming to Thinktank on Friday 4 December, as part of the museum's Christmas Cinema series. It's a cinema-style screening of the Muppets' retelling of Dickens' classic, and it's being shown inside the Thinktank Planetarium on Level 3 of the Birmingham Science Museum on Curzon Street.
What makes this one a bit different from your usual trip to the cinema is the setting. The Planetarium's 360° dome sparkles with cosmic cheer around the screen, and the seating is unallocated, so you can just pick your spot. The film itself runs 89 minutes and is rated U, making it an easy one to bring the whole family along to. It's one of several festive nights the museum is running through early December, so there are a few dates to choose from if this one doesn't quite fit your schedule.

Doors open from 4pm, and the film starts promptly at 4:30pm, so it's a late-afternoon thing that gets you home well before the evening really kicks in. Tickets are £12 for adults and £8 for children, with a member's discount that brings them down to £9 and £6. Pre-booking is essential because places are limited, so if you're keen, it's worth getting yours sorted sooner rather than later.
