Family-friendly Halloween lantern trail through the walled gardens for children aged 5 to 10, with costumes welcome and hot chocolate.
Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens Trust is running its children's Halloween lantern walks on Wednesday 28, Thursday 29 and Friday 30 October, from 5pm to 5.45pm. It's a family-friendly, after-hours trail through the walled gardens, led by a member of staff. The walk is aimed at children aged 5 to 10, and you follow the guide by lantern light to find the Good Witch and make your way back to the Courtyard. There are ghoulish tales and the odd jump scare along the way, though the organisers promise that good triumphs over bad in the end. Costumes are welcome, and parents supervise throughout.
It's one of three Halloween events the gardens are running during the half term. There's also 'Woodland Wizards', an outdoor session with nature wands, muddy potions and spooky games, and a 'Half Term Witches' Trail' where six creatures are hidden around the grounds. If you're taking the kids, you could easily pair the walk with one of those for a full afternoon.

Tickets are £12, which covers one child and one adult, and includes a child's hot chocolate. Additional adults are £5 each. The walk runs from 5pm to 5.45pm, but you can arrive from 4.30pm, and hot chocolate is available from then too, so there's plenty of time to get settled and warm up before you set off. You'll find the gardens at Chester Road, Castle Bromwich, Birmingham, B36 9BT.
