A relaxed networking meet-up for Birmingham's creative community to share work and collaborate in a supportive, communal environment.
Brum Radicals is back at Craft & Culture, the café bar inside the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter, on Saturday 24 October. It's a monthly networking meet-up for Birmingham's creative community to share work and collaborate, and it's open to artists, students, makers and anyone curious about the local scene.
The format is loose and welcoming. You can show what you've been working on as a slide-based presentation or something more like a pop-up show, and then the group gets creative and makes something together. It's described as a relaxed space to meet, share ideas and create side by side, where creativity is communal rather than competitive.
The name comes from the Arts & Crafts movement, and the organisers draw inspiration from places like the Red House and Kelmscott Manor, which became living experiments in beauty, craftsmanship and communal creativity. The idea is to bring that same spirit of making together into a Birmingham setting.

The venue itself is a bit of a time capsule. The Museum of the Jewellery Quarter is a perfectly preserved workshop of the Smith & Pepper jewellery manufacturing firm, whose proprietors retired in 1981 and locked the door, leaving behind the area's jewellery and metalworking heritage. It's usually open Thursday to Sunday on guided tours only, and it also runs workshops and themed tours, like 'Workshops at War', which looks at the quarter's role during both world wars. Brum Radicals takes place in the Craft & Culture café bar within the museum.
It runs from 2:00pm on Saturday 24 October and lasts three hours. Entry is free.
