Conference day of the Birmingham Film Festival with industry panels on funding, feature film strategy and building a career in television.
The Birmingham Film Festival is holding its Conference Day at Millennium Point on Friday 6 November, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. It's a full day of talks aimed at aspiring filmmakers, students, industry professionals and film fans, with industry guests and expert panels running through the morning and afternoon.
Things kick off with a Networking Morning at 10:00, so you've got a good window to meet people before the sessions start. The first panel, 'Funding, finance and infrastructure', runs at 12:30 with FilmShake, Miller's Insurance and Elevated Films on the bill. That's the practical side of things — how to actually get a project off the ground and keep it moving.
The afternoon shifts from the money to the making. At 2:00, Matt Canon of Tenth Planet leads 'Feature Film Strategy', and then at 3:30 comes 'Building TV Careers', fronted by Bafta-winning Brummie producer Anthony Waldron, known for The Real Hustle, History of the Museum and Evil Lives Here, alongside producer Barry Ryan. Between them, the day covers the money, the strategy and the career path.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Birmingham and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.
