A new comedy horror farce about a research assistant whose fake scientific breakthrough spirals out of control.
Being Frank opens at The Blue Orange Theatre on Friday 30 October, with the run continuing through to Saturday 7 November. It's a brand new comedy horror farce, so it's one of those nights that sits somewhere between a laugh and a shudder.
The story follows Frank, a down-on-his-luck research assistant whose boss is demanding results. His latest project is called Reanimation!, and it spirals out of control when he bribes an old friend to fake a breakthrough. That one lie pulls in a threatening loan shark, a mysterious femme fatale, and an electrical storm with very unexpected side effects. It's billed as a fast-paced horror farce full of bad science and even worse decisions.
Because it's a farce, the comedy comes from the situation getting more and more out of hand, and the horror elements give it a bit of a Halloween edge, which fits the dates. The production is recommended for ages 16 and over, so it's not one to bring the kids along to.
