Stage adaptation of Thomas Harris's horror novel, with John Partridge as Hannibal Lecter, at The Alexandra.
The Silence of the Lambs opens at The Alexandra on Tuesday 5 January 2027, running through to Saturday 9 January. It's a stage adaptation of Thomas Harris's horror novel, one of the 20th century's most chilling detective stories, and it's billed as the world's first live staging of the book. The production is directed by Nikolai Foster and adapted by Gina Gionfriddo, and it's touring the UK.
The story follows FBI trainee Clarice Starling, who enlists the help of the imprisoned cannibal Dr Hannibal Lecter to track the serial killer Buffalo Bill. It's a cat-and-mouse game played out between two people who never leave their respective sides of the glass, with Starling trading pieces of her own life for the clues Lecter dangles in front of her. The tension comes from that trade, and from the race to find Buffalo Bill before he claims another victim.
The cast is a mix of theatre backgrounds. John Partridge takes on the role of Hannibal Lecter, with Mollie Gallagher as Clarice Starling and Oliver Farnworth as Jack Crawford. Sam Jackson plays Buffalo Bill, and Minal Patel is Frederick Chilton. The supporting cast includes Jo Mousley as Senator Ruth Martin, Lottie Amor as Catherine Martin, Mark Peachey as Pilcher, Andrew Joshi as Peterson, and Jonny Magnanti as Wertimer, with Mary Timbrell Hill playing multiple roles. It's a production that's been touring the UK and has picked up a five-star average rating from audience reviews.
