Theatre and dance show 'Can We Talk?' from Sampad, exploring artist wellbeing, within the BEDLAM Arts and Mental Health Festival at MAC Birmingham.
BEDLAM returns to MAC Birmingham on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 November, the arts and mental health festival that comes back to the city every year. It's run in collaboration with Sampad and Birmingham Rep, and this year's programme is built around artist wellbeing. The idea is to bring together artists, practitioners and mental health professionals to look at how creativity can support wellbeing, resilience and connection, and to make space for dialogue, learning and collaboration across the arts and health sectors.
The main feature is Can We Talk?, a theatre and dance show that runs twice: Friday 6 November at 6.30pm and Saturday 7 November at 4.30pm, with the Saturday performance followed by a post-show discussion. The festival opens on Friday evening with the Symposium Opening Night at 5pm.
Saturday is the busier day, with a full run of workshops and talks. There's a Theatre & Sanctuary discussion and workshop with Birmingham Rep at 11am and 12.30pm, followed by a paper weaving workshop with Nilupa Yasmin from 1pm to 3pm. Chai + Chat with Sampad comes in at 2.15pm, and the Let's Dance workshop with Sampad starts at 3.15pm, leading into the second performance of Can We Talk? later that afternoon.
