Guided backstage tours of Birmingham Rep, exploring the workshop, paint shop and wardrobe department, with a chance to meet an actor.
Birmingham Rep is opening its doors for backstage tours starting Thursday 26 November, and they run right through to Saturday 9 January 2027. It's a chance to get behind the scenes of one of the city's biggest theatres and see the parts that usually stay closed to the public.
The tour takes you into the workshop and the paint shop, where sets are built from scratch, and into the wardrobe department, where characters are brought to life. If you're lucky, you might even cross paths with an actor or two while you're back there. The whole thing runs for up to 90 minutes, so it's a proper look around rather than a quick walk-through.
Beyond the tours, the Rep does a fair bit more for those interested in how things work. They run bespoke pre- and post-show workshops for schools and local organisations, which can happen either at the school or at the theatre, and they hold post-show discussions where the general public can put questions directly to the cast and the creative teams.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Birmingham and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.
