Beginner-friendly lino print workshop to carve and print your own owl design, with lunch or coffee available at the venue.
Gemma Smith is running an autumn owl lino print workshop at Sage Coffee House and Kitchen on Monday 26 October, from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm. It's a two-and-a-half-hour session, and the whole point is that you leave with your own printed artwork to take home.
If you've never touched a lino cutter, that's fine. Smith runs the session as a complete introduction: you'll carve your own owl design into a lino block, then learn how to ink it and print it. There's no expectation of prior experience or drawing skills, as the workshop covers the basics of cutting and carving, inking, and printing from scratch. You'll spend the afternoon working through those stages, and you'll walk away with the prints you've made.
The venue is a coffee house and kitchen, which gives you a couple of options before the session starts: you can grab lunch or just a coffee and cake. It's worth keeping in mind that you'll be working with ink, so it's a good idea to wear something you don't mind getting a bit messy or to bring along an apron. There are no refunds, so make sure the date works for you before you sign up.
