Guided afternoon walk led by fungi expert Lukas Large to spot and identify fungi in Cannon Hill Park.
Friends of Cannon Hill Park are running a fungi walk through Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Park on Friday 30 October, from 2 pm to 4 pm. It's a two-hour afternoon stroll through the grounds, led by fungi expert Lukas Large of the West Midlands Fungus Group.
Cannon Hill Park is known for being rich with fungi, particularly in September and October, so the timing is no accident. Large will lead the group through the grounds, pointing out what's growing and explaining how to identify it. If you've ever walked past something strange popping up through the leaf litter and wondered what it was, this is your chance to get a proper answer from someone who knows their stuff.
The walk goes ahead whatever the weather, so you'll want to come prepared for a damp October afternoon. It isn't wheelchair accessible, and while children are welcome, they have to be accompanied by an adult, with a maximum of two children per adult. All ticket income goes to the Birmingham Museums Trust.
