Alison Moyet plays Symphony Hall with her band, covering songs from Yazoo and her solo electronica albums 'the minutes' and 'Other'.
Alison Moyet plays Symphony Hall on Thursday 22 October, part of a tour that's been running through Europe, the UK and Ireland since September. It's called Songs of Yazoo, the minutes & Other, and the title tells you exactly what's on the setlist: the Yazoo catalogue, with a few tracks from her later electronic albums, the minutes and Other.
If you're coming to this for the early stuff, you're in the right place. Moyet first made her name in the synth-pop duo Yazoo, and this tour focuses on that material. The songs from those records take up the bulk of the night, so it's a Yazoo-heavy set rather than a career retrospective. The other half comes from the minutes and Other, two of her more recent electronic albums, which sit comfortably alongside the older synth-pop.
She's not playing solo. On stage with her are Sean McGhee, Brendan Cox and Paul Jones, and together they'll be working through the Yazoo songs and the selections from her later electronic work. It's a full band night, so you'll hear the tracks played out rather than as stripped-back versions.

For context, Moyet is an English singer-songwriter known for her rich, soulful contralto voice. After Yazoo, she built a solo career with songs like 'All Cried Out' and 'Love Resurrection', and she's spent much of her time working in pop and electronic music. The Birmingham date is sold out, so if you're looking for tickets, you'll have to keep an eye on the usual places. The show starts at 18:30 at Symphony Hall, B1 2EA.
