Double headliner folk night at the Red Lion Folk Club with singer-songwriter Abi Budgen and Rob Peters and The Slapdash Cowboys.
Abi Budgen and Rob Peters share a double bill at the Red Lion Folk Club on Wednesday 2 December, a night that brings together two singer-songwriters with deep roots in the city. It's a double headliner, so both get their own full set rather than one opening for the other.
Abi Budgen is a singer, songwriter, guitarist and poet. Her style comes from a lifetime of studying traditional blues and gospel, and she's an internationally respected teacher of both. She's often joined on drums and percussion by long-time collaborator Dan Wilkins, and her song 'Cry' appears on the album Music Minds alongside Andy Fairweather Low, Chris Difford and Tom Robinson.
Rob Peters is a Birmingham man through and through, born in Edgbaston and living in Kings Heath. He's been singing and playing guitar for decades, fronting Dangerous Girls in the 1970s and We'll Always Have Paris in the 1990s, and recording and touring with Everything But The Girl, Boo Hewerdine, Eddi Reader and Black.
