The Crescent Theatre Company's free production of Charles Dickens' 'A Christmas Carol' for Christmas.
The Crescent Theatre Company is bringing A Christmas Carol to The Crescent Theatre on Saturday 12 December, with performances running through to Saturday 19 December. It's Charles Dickens' old favourite, the one most of us know from school, brought to the stage just in time for the festive season.
The story follows Ebenezer Scrooge, the tight-fisted miser who spends his days counting coins and avoiding people. On Christmas Eve, he's visited by the ghost of his old business partner, Jacob Marley, who warns him that it's not too late to change his fate if he survives three more ghostly encounters. From there, it's the familiar journey through his past, present and future, and the slow thawing of a heart that's been frozen for far too long. It's a tale of redemption, and as a festive treat, it's hard to beat.
Because it runs from the 12th to the 19th, you've got a good window to fit it in around your other Christmas plans, rather than having just one night to make it work. The production is put on by The Crescent Theatre Company, so it's a local company on their home turf.
