Beginner-friendly 3D bead embroidery workshop taught by Chanel of Nelly Makes Embroidery, suitable for ages 12 and over.
Nelly Makes is hosting a 3D bead embroidery workshop on Sunday 6 December, running from 11:30 am to 2 pm. It's a morning session, and the doors open ten minutes early at 11:20 am, so you've got a bit of time to settle in before things get started.
If you've never heard of 3D bead embroidery, it's exactly what it sounds like: you're not just stitching beads flat onto a piece of fabric, but building them up into raised, textured shapes that stand off the surface. Over the course of the morning, you'll learn how to embellish fabric with that kind of intricate beadwork, and you'll leave with a beaded piece of your own to take home. It's a beginner-friendly session, so you don't need to have picked up a needle before to join in.
The workshop is taught by Chanel, who runs Nelly Makes Embroidery and has more than 15 years of teaching experience in bead embroidery. She describes the session as a mindful, meditative crafting experience, and anyone aged 12 and over can take part, so it works as a solo morning or something to do with a younger relative. You'll be working with beads and fabric, and the focus is on the process of building those 3D textures rather than rushing to a finished product.
