Old Bull Theatre play about grief, loss and mental health, following two young men whose friendship fractures and leaves one to grieve.
Words On A Moving Page comes to The Studio at the Grand Opera House on Saturday 17 October, an Old Bull Theatre production staged in the intimate Studio space and supported by the Grand Opera House Trust. It's a play that doesn't shy away from the heavy stuff: grief, loss and mental health.
The story follows Connor and his best friend Barry, two young men struggling with their mental health and the thoughts in their heads, until their relationship fractures to the point of no return. The fallout takes a devastating toll on Connor, whose state worsens as he loves, loses and grieves, in what's described as a gripping story of a young man desperately searching for answers. It's a small, focused piece of theatre that stays close to the two of them and the things they can't quite say out loud.
There are a few things to keep in mind before you book. The show is recommended for ages 16 and over, and the content warnings are quite specific: themes of grief, loss and mental health; strong language and adult themes; depictions of suicide; and scenes some viewers might find distressing. There's also flashing imagery throughout, so it's worth noting if that's something you need to be aware of. It runs for 2 hours and 15 minutes, including an interval, so you'll have a break in the middle to stretch your legs and gather your thoughts.
