Gala screening of Wildwood, the animated adventure from LAIKA, at ODEON Belfast.
Wildwood gets a gala preview at ODEON Belfast on Sunday 18 October, a first look at the new animated adventure from LAIKA. If you're familiar with their work, you'll know they're the Oscar-nominated and BAFTA-winning studio behind some of the most distinctive stop-motion in recent years, and this is their latest.
The story follows Prue McKeel, a headstrong teenager whose baby brother is abducted by a murder of crows. She sets off on a rescue mission into the Impassable Wilderness, an enchanted forest hidden just beyond Portland, Oregon, and she doesn't go alone — her loyal classmate Curtis Mehlberg joins her. Together they navigate a world of talking animals, bandits and powerful figures driven by grief and ambition, and they find themselves drawn into a conflict that threatens the forest itself. LAIKA describes it as a sweeping adventure about love, sacrifice and the magic that reveals itself when we dare to look beyond the familiar.
On the voice cast, Peyton Elizabeth Lee voices Prue and Jacob Tremblay voices Curtis. The film carries a 12A rating, so it's one to keep in mind if you're bringing younger ones along.
