Mid-week session of traditional music and singing with local string enthusiasts at The Green Room.
The First Slip returns to The Black Box on Wednesday 4 November, held in the Green Room at 18-22 Hill Street. It's a night of traditional music and singing, and it's free to get in.
The evening is built around a session that brings together local string enthusiasts and their friends, with the music settling in as the night goes on. It's become a mid-week institution in Belfast, the kind of thing that starts with a few people and grows as more turn up. The line-up this time around includes Joshua Burnside, Myles McCormack, and Kate de Barra, with friends joining in as the session takes shape.
Because it's a session rather than a formal concert, the music evolves over the course of the evening. It's less about a set list and more about the playing itself, with the singing and the strings leading the way. If you're into traditional music, it's a good place to see it happen in a room where the playing is the whole point.

The Green Room opens from 5pm, and the session itself gets going around 7pm, so you've got a fair window to arrive whenever suits you. It's free entry, and the music runs through the evening.
