Theatrical world premiere of the Midsomer Murders whodunnit, adapted by Guy Unsworth and starring Daniel Casey as Inspector Tom Barnaby.
Midsomer Murders: The Killings at Badger's Drift comes to the Grand Opera House from Tuesday 1 June to Saturday 5 June 2027, with Daniel Casey returning as Inspector Tom Barnaby. It's the theatrical world premiere of the whodunnit, adapted and directed by Guy Unsworth from Caroline Graham's novel The Killings at Badger's Drift and the ITV series produced by Bentley Productions in association with All3 Media International.
The story starts when spinster Emily Simpson is found dead in the village of Badger's Drift. Her friend Lucy Bellringer refuses to accept it was an accident, and that pulls DCI Tom Barnaby and Sergeant Gavin Troy into a world of hidden passions, long-buried secrets and deadly rivalries among the eccentric villagers. It's billed as a classic whodunnit set in England's deadliest county, and the production is presented by Nicholson Green Productions and Colin Ingram Ltd.
This is the show's second tour of the UK and Ireland, following a first run that broke box office records and even drew John Nettles, the original screen Barnaby, to a performance in Truro. Spring 2027 also marks the 40th anniversary of the novel, so the timing works out quite well. It's recommended for ages 12 and over, and there's an audio-described performance on Thursday 3 June at 7:30pm.
