Christmas pantomime, billed as Northern Ireland's biggest, with music, comedy and spectacular effects, recommended for ages 3 and above.
The Little Mermaid opens at the Grand Opera House on Saturday 28 November, running through to Sunday 10 January. It's a reimagining of the fairytale told as a panto, with music, stage effects and comedy, recommended for ages 3 and up. The show runs for two hours including the interval.
Rhiannon Chesterman plays Ariel, with Adam Gillian as Prince Eric. The supporting cast includes May McFettridge as Queen May, Paddy Jenkins as The King, Adam C Booth as Conor Crabsticks, Jolene O'Hara as the Sea Spirit and Jalisa Phoenix-Roberts as the Sea Witch. It's billed as Northern Ireland's biggest pantomime, staged by Olivier award-winning producer Michael Harrison on behalf of Crossroads Pantomimes—the same team behind The Adventures of Pinocchio, The Pantomime Adventures of Peter Pan, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella and Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
There's a bit of local history to the venue too. The Grand Opera House opened with a pantomime in December 1895 and has welcomed families over 130 years, with more than 76,000 people visiting every year. Dame May McFettridge, a Belfast panto favourite, is playing her record-breaking 36th season at the house.
